As a lad, Autolycus ran off to join a traveling carnival where he perfected the skills of an escape artist and prestidigitator. Handsome and charming, he drifted into a life of crime and eventually became the (self-styled) King of Thieves. Although he is frequently on the wrong side of the law, he has his uses and can be coerced to use his powers for good, at least temporarily. Given the choice between love and war, he'll always take the former, and he'd much rather try to talk and dazzle his way out of a bind, rather than risk potential harm to his physical person by fighting.
